All women percussion band in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia areas - Batala Band - is an international all women band, that plays Afro-Brazilian, Samba-Reggae rhythms and is open for membership to all women over the age of 18 years old. Batala Band is available for private parties, corporate parties, fund raisers, festivals, parades, workshops and many other events in the Washington DC, VA and MD areas.

Who can be part of the band?
Any women older than 18 years old of age, regardless of race, religion, income or musical experience.

What if I have never played an instrument before?
90% of the women in the band never played any instruments in their lives. We’ll teach how to play and you will be performing with us in no time.

Does it cost anything to join the band?
No. We’ll provide you with the instrument and costumes.
