The all-women Batala Washington percussion group started in June 2007 in Washington DC, and is part of the International Batala group that plays Afro-Brazilian / Samba-Reggae rhythms.
As a 501(c)3
nonprofit organization, all proceeds go towards providing
instruments and costumes to members, all of whom are volunteers. Joining Batala is free of charge to all women regardless of race, religion, income, sexual orientation or musical experience; however, the purchase of the Batala Starter Kit is necessary.
We currently have 80 women in the band and open often for new members to join. |

When: Every Saturday, from 10:00am to 1:00pm
